Makeup For Women Over 50; Glowing And Natural
Hi there! This is my very first blog post for Luxe Beauty Blog. Thanks for stopping by! Today’s post features a beauty tutorial that focuses on how to do a soft and natural makeup for women over 50, like myself. :). After I did this makeup on my 58 year old self, and I felt a whole lot prettier!! The key to this soft, fresh and natural makeup, is to avoid overloading on foundation and translucent powder, and to use the right skin care products. So, the skin care products are important because the right products create the best canvas on which to apply makeup for a woman over 50. Therefore, don’t skimp out on your skincare routine.

Skincare For A Glowing Makeup For Women Over 50
For this natural makeup look, I used a hydrating and soothing toner and serum, a nourishing facial oil, a rich moisturizing cream and a facial balm. These are a few of the skin care products that I find enhance the makeup for women over 50, the best.
1. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. This toner soothes and hydrates mature skin, and can be spritzed on before and after all other skin care products. It also makes the skin feel fresh and moist and revitalizes skin when misted on throughout the day.
2. The Ordinary Amino Acids + B5 Concentrated Hydration Support Formula. Hydration or the lack of it, is a major concern when applying makeup for women over 50. This skin care product provides deeper hydration, thereby relieving that tight feeling mature skin often gets.

3. The Ordinary B Oil Daily Support Formula for all skin types. This product is a facial oil and facial oil is a great product for mature women to include in their skincare routine. Facial oil provides the extra moisture that their skin usually needs.
4. Weleda Skin Food, Original Ultra Rich Cream. This rich cream is suitable for mature skin, and it happens to be one of my favourite creams for makeup for women over 50. I find that it really helps the makeup to glide on smoothly, just like butter.
5. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. This product, an amazing skin balm created in the 1940’s, relieves rough or very dry areas on the face, chapped lips and dry cuticles. Also, when tapped onto the cheekbones with the fingertips, it gives the skin a gorgeous glow.
Beauty Products For Natural Makeup For Women Over 50
Beauty Products For The skin
STEP 1: For this natural glam makeup look, I used Kryolan camouflage makeup. This brand is from Germany and was created for makeup professionals. This cream foundation covers everything!! It’s a workhorse that pulls its weight. You’ll be amazed at how quick and easy it is to apply. You only need a small amount of this product, which is perfect for mature makeup.

STEP 2: To set the makeup, I applied a little Cover FX foundation powder. This foundation powder can be used to set makeup, and to achieve a smooth and natural makeup look, quickly. For those rushed days, a quick, light dusting of this foundation powder over your skin, finished with a spritz of moisture spray, does the trick.
Makeup For The Brows
STEP 3: I defined my sparse AF brows with Urban Decay Brow Blade in Cool Cookie. It’s a pencil and brow pen in one and that rocks my world. I started with the pencil half, and finished detailing with the pen side. Besides defining my eyebrows, I also use this pencil to define my lower lashes. In my humble opinion, any makeup product that can pull off triple duty, is my kind of makeup product.
Makeup For The Eyes
STEP 4: I defined my lash line with Il Makiage liquid liner (black). Eyeliner makeup can be difficult to apply, so I find that it helps to stretch the eyelid out a little. That’s one tip that really helps when doing makeup for women over 50.
STEP 5: MAC shimmer shadow (Kiss of Klimt, gold) highlights the centre of the eyelids, below the arch of the brows and the inner corner of the eyes. For a budget friendly option, try Wet n’ Wild Megaglo highlighting powder.

STEP 6: Curling lashes and mascara. For sparse lashes like mine, curling them and stroking on mascara, may not be the right option. The best option for sparse lashes is gluing on a few lash inserts. This techniques tends to work much better. Finish the eye makeup by lining the waterline with a skin toned eye pencil. I used Sephora Brand jumbo liner in Secret Boudoir to brighten, wake up and open up my eyes. Keep in mind that brighter eyes look more youthful. This is a makeup technique that I love for women over 50. It’s also good to note that a skin toned pencil looks more natural than a white one.

Makeup For The Cheeks
STEP 7: Dab on cream blush on the apples of the cheeks and on the lips. For this makeup, I used e.l.f. putty blush in Bahamas. I applied it onto the apples of the cheeks, and then I dabbed illuminator on top of it. The illuminator was applied to the tops of the cheeks and down the bridge of the nose and the centre of the lips. I used NYX illuminating stick in Pink Lace.
STEP 8: Finish the cheek makeup by stroking cream bronzer below your cheekbones, along the sides of the nose, and along the jawline. You can also apply a little bronzer along the crease of the eyelid for added eye definition. (NYX illuminating stick in Sandy Glow) (see video). Lastly, BLEND WELL into the skin using a makeup sponge or a blender brush. Nothing looks worse on a face, than brown unblended stripes.
Makeup For The Lips
STEP 9: Line the lips with a darker shade to plump them up, and fill them in with the lighter lipliner of your choice. For this makeup I used Face Atelier lipliner in Sand and NYX lipliner (colour unknown). When doing lip makeup for women over 50, I tend to overdraw the lip-line just a little to make it appear fuller.
The Finishing Touches
STEP 10: Mist on a setting spray to keep the skin looking moist and plump, and the makeup in its rightful place throughout the day. I chose Milk setting spray.
*pro tip: mist the setting spray onto a makeup sponge or onto your fingertips and dab it around the eyes, chin and mouth to prevent slipping or creasing.
